Ed : November 22 Inarajan Falls This hike is rated difficult, but mostly for the rope climb down to the bottom of the falls and the last hill. Most of the hike is level on old jeep trails, and its a great falls. We start up high with excellent views, then head down to cross the Laolao river. After a carabao encounter we climb to the other side of the valley and begin the long, mostly level hike to the falls. Along the way are many red clay mesas to explore and have fun with. Passing the ranch we head downhill on a possibly very slippery old trail to cross the upper Inarajan river and ascend gently on the other side. At the trail junction we head gently downhill, past the Latte Stones at the ancient village, and reach the broad flat ledges of the Inarajan river. There may be some fun rock sliding here. Working our way down river past the very nice upper falls, we reach the top of Inarajan Falls proper with its fine view of the green valley below. The adventurous can make the medium length rope climb down to the bottom of the falls with its open ledges. Here you can enjoy a sunny lunch, climb up to the throne to shower under the falls, or climb down to the lower swimming pools. (Just watch out for the piranha fish) This is truly a great place to hang out. When ready, we climb back up to the top, walk back up to the trail junction, retrace the long mostly level walk to the Laolao river, and climb back up to return to our cars. We may also offer a shortcut out, continuing up the river from the ledges past a series of giant boulders and small waterfalls, before a steep climb out of the valley and a short walk back to the original trail. Although shorter, this part is much more difficult.
