Edge of tomorrow live, die, repeat Edge of tomorrow is the new Tom Cruse sci-fi action movie, An asteroid hits Germany carrying an alien life form a few years later all of Europe has fallen to them and the after a decisive win lead by Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt) the military plan a last big push into France ( a D-Day2) to take down the Mimics a cross between a squid and a wolf. enter Tom Cruse as William Cage a us army press officer with no actual combat experience but he can sell the invasion to the public so when General Brigham (Brendan Gleeson) orders him to be on the beach with the first wave, so Cage tries to blackmail him into not sending him as a result Cage wakes up at the Heathrow deployment station a few hours later branded a deserter and put with J company a group of misfits lead by Master Sergeant Farell (Bill Paxton) and a very scared cage is dropped into the war zone. But the enemy know they are coming and the invasion fails with the death of all including Cage, but just as Cage dies he kills and Alpha alien and is covered in its blood only to wake up back in time a few hours at the deployment centre. After a dying a few time on the battle field he encounters Rita who tells him to find her when he wakes up as it turns out Rita has had the same thing happen to her but lost it after a Blood transplant she offers to train him every day ( or the same day ) till he can find a way to win the war. Edge of Tomorrow based on the novel All you need is kill is a big budget sci-fi action extravaganza with Cruse giving a very good performance as Cage going from scared to angry and combat ready killing machine. While Blunt plays her part of Rita with steel and balls that rival any action hero. The moments between them are good with the relationship building nicely and with a very good support cast including Paxton, Glesson and Jonas Armstrong ( TVs Robin Hood) that helps to flesh out the film nicely . The action sequences are well filmed with very good visual effects and the time jump story line isnt over played as they start to change the day and the possible out come just before you get bored with the Live, Die, Repeat part of the story. The Aliens are very well displayed and fun to watch , while the big plus of this film is watching Tom Cruse die over and over and occasionally in very funny ways. It also has a dark line of hummer that keeps it fresh. All in all this is good sci-fi action and the best thing Cruse has done in years. Well worth a visit to the cinema and maybe even a repeat
