Edge of tomorrw: I was excited after watching the trailer, but not expecting much as most of the recent sci-fi movies pretty much suck (e.g. After Earth, Robocop, Transcendence). So I was sceptical at first but the movie changed my opinion in first 30 mins. Story: The movie has a good story/script. Movie takes off with Tom Cruise getting demoted and joining the army as a private. Army is fighting with an alien enemy called Mimic. Tom cruise manages to kill one of the mimic and dies only to find himself re-living the day. Confused, he goes to Emily Blunt who is known as Full Metal Bit*h and she helps him to figure out his power. Story can be predictable at times but it doesnt get stale. The movie has good action sequences and good humorous scenes as well. Actors: Tom Cruise is 51 years old but he still packs a wallop. You still enjoy his presence on screen. I am glad that Emily Blunt got buffed for her role, and she has a fair share of action. Bill Paxton surely needs a special mention for bringing comic relief. Director/Cinematography: Visual effects looks stunning and make the action Solid and really gives you a feeling for an apocalyptic world. Aliens look creepy enough though (Apart from Alpha) you dont get to see them up-close. Cons: Though the movie has good amount of action but at the end of the movie it still left me craving for more action on battle-field. You see good action at the beginning and then Tom Cruises training monologue starts, thats it. then you get to see the action in bits-n-pieces. Movie shifts focus from battlefield to destroying alien Omega and that makes the battle secondary. I disliked that. In my opinion the movie needed to spend some more time on battleground. Otherwise it is a decent Sci-fi action flick, which restores your faith in the genre to some degree. 7.5/10
