Editor, As I read this morning’s paper I was aghast! amused? at the item on the front page about how Davis County can’t afford to hire enough bus drivers to keep our kids safe because of Obamacare! We can blame whatever we want, but bottom line, they and Wal-Mart and other businesses are just saying, “I don’t care if you have health insurance as long as I have it.” America is sliding backward in the developed world’s equality status. We don’t want to provide health care for the underdog. It’s okay for them to die by side of the road. I understand that a private company may not have the resources for its employees but cutting their hours is as inhumane as withholding healthcare. There really is only one answer. What we need is what more civilized, developed countries have – health care for all with a system that doesn’t punish anyone but cares for everyone. Yes we have a sophisticated system here in America, if/if you have the money to access it, but if you don’t, well too bad. No one wants to help you. Those with good insurance don’t care if you die or suffer endlessly. Doctor shortages? Yes, the more patients the more doctors are required and that will happen in the US, too. Is it fair to “save the doctor for yourself or do something to fix the shortage so all can have a fair chance?” Ask the Canadians, the Brits, the Aussies, the Swedes, the Finns, the Germans, the Danes, the Norwegians, the Dutch and on and on, who in their nation has to die alone at home because they can’t afford a medical visit. If you profess to be a caring Christian, ask yourself what would Jesus really do? A Christian nation? I think not!
