Editorial in todays Paducah newspaper talks about American corporations leaving the US to avoid the high tax rates. Our corporate tax rates are substantially higher than those of Europe. Pfizer and Walgreens are taking about moving to Europe with their headquarters. Which would save their shareholders a lot of money. The Obama administration plan to deal with this is to increase the taxes and make IRS rewrite its rules to make those types of moves more difficult. Companies could merely sell to European interests and assertive the same result. Why cant they see that making the tax rates more competitive is in their best interests? Wouldnt it be better to get$750 million in taxes from Pfizer rather than getting$0 of the current$1 billion they pay?
