Editors column: My Basketball Days I remember when basketball was fun to play. Friends would gather on the playground, get in line to play knockout, and knock people out by making shots. I loved basketball growing up, and during camp one day, I developed a dream to play professional basketball in the NBA. I wanted to be like Michael Jordan, or even Charles Barkley if I had to. I loved to shoot the rock, and I loved making it. But on the road to the top, my love for the game wavered. The simple freedoms of dribbling back and forth between my legs, launching 3-pointers from my shoes and juking out old guys in the gym was replaced by fear and worry of not making the eighth grade A team.
