Edmonton Elections...Beyond Oct. 21st I have read, listened, watched, inspired, convinced, and motivated by the mix of: world class business people, the cream of community builders, gold star messengers and A* youth floating around willing to get to work to build our city, all triggered by this election. What happens to this rich pool of human resource that will not be appreciated with a seat at city hall? After the election; disappear to their previous functions and wait for next election, if still have enough “fire in their belly”; heed to the beacon of other cities; or be engaged in building a better Edmonton in capacity not campaigned for, if interested. Fellow Edmontonians, permit me think beyond this election, in fact, beyond Oct. 21st and of course beyond politics. I wonder how the next mayor and council can make use of this array of talents, expertise and experiences on display at this election. Whether as councillors or as non-councillors, some of these honorable ladies and gentle men have something to offer our city…we just have to figure out how to get the best out of them. Drawing inspiration from this election, I have learnt that elections does not just help us choose mayor and councillors, but also bring out valuable human resources, potential for moving our city forward. I wish the mayor to be, who ever that is, and council to be, whatever the composition of the bunch, will have the will, ability, talent, expertise, and experiences to appreciate, connect with these champions to help move Edmonton from the City of Champions to the City of Super Champions. eepurl/G7KHT
