Education is the key and foundation to growing NCs economy. Instead the leadership in the General Assembly decided to act like SC or MS and failed to realize the unique nature of our economy. I opposed the budget because it eliminates 3,800 teaching assistants, increases tuition for community colleges, cuts UNC need-based grants and phases out salary advancement for teachers with advanced degrees. We need an economic policy that supports our education system and that supports NC’s unique economy. See below as I lay out what needs to be our vision for NC:
