Educators run the risk that students are actually learning - TopicsExpress

Educators run the risk that students are actually learning something and are spreading what they learn all through the streets. Today I was reviewing fallacies (arguments that may be convincing yet are seriously flawed). In providing examples of concepts, on most days, I make them up on the spot...risky business. So one of my students, having learned in my class (Yay!!!!!) was explaining what the slippery slope fallacy meant during down time in another class. Here is her quoted example: If we allow girls to stop wearing the required collared shirts, then they will wear blouses and such, and before you know it they will be running around naked with their bosoms hanging out (of course, my ridiculous example word for word from her lips) In giggles, my colleague informed me after school that though the student learned and definitely understands slippery slope, the naked part was a huge jump. SMH.... What happens in English never stays in English. Every outrageous slip of my tongue can be used against me as leverage.
