Edward Nalbandian met the Speaker of the Riksdag On November 25 Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian who is paying an official visit to Sweden met the Speaker of the Riksdag Urban Ahlin. Expressing gratitude for the reception, Edward Nalbandian mentioned, that the Armenian-Swedish relations are characterized by open and constructive political dialogue and the willingness to further strengthen them. During the meeting, importance was attached to the activity by the friendship groups of both Parliaments. In this context, Minister Nalbandian underscored that the parliamentarian framework plays significant role in the development of interstate cooperation and that it is symbolic that the Head of Armenia-Sweden Parliamentary Friendship Group of National Assembly of RA Samvel Farmanyan is in the delegation. Urban Ahlin and Edward Nalbandian placed importance to the enhancement of cooperation within international organizations and their parliamentary assemblies. The Speaker of the Parliament of Sweden and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia exchanged views on steps towards the development of cooperation various areas. Issues regarding Armenia-European Union cooperation were discussed during the meeting. The sides exchanged thoughts over the Ukrainian crisis and ways to resolve it, the developments taking place in the Middle East, the talks on nuclear program of Iran. Esabelle Dingizian, the Vice Speaker of the Parliament,Mr. Kenneth Forslund, Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and parliamentarians representing different parties attended an official lunch given at Riksdag in the name of the Foreign Minister of Armenia, during which thoughts were exchanged over the bilateral relations and a range of regional issues. Edward Nalbandian noted, that Armenia attaches significance to parliamentary diplomacy as an efficient framework for cooperation between states and peoples. At the meeting with parliamentarians Minister Nalbandian presented the efforts exerted towards the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, the process of Armenia joining the Eurasian Union, Armenia-European Union cooperation.
