Edward Wright My current listening post setup. The first - TopicsExpress

Edward Wright My current listening post setup. The first picture is my listening post. Top center screen is SDR#, a software driven radio client that is using the Funcube Dongle Pro+. In this picture it is currently tuned into the 20 meter ham band. On the lower left screen are two programs. The one to the left is DigiPan, a PSK decoder for receiving text based transmissions (I also have another program for RTTY transmissions that isnt currently running). To the right of that is WXtoImg, a program for receiving, decoding, and processing NOAA weather satellite data transmissions directly from the satellites. In the center screen is my Chrome web brower. On the right screen is Orbitron, a very configurable satellite tracking program that is tracking a few satellites worth listening to. Having input the coordinates to my house, it can tell me when tracked satellites will pass within range of my rig. The second picture is my antenna. It is a RadioShack Outdoor Scanner/Ham Discone, model 20-043. With this setup I have listened to ham operators all over the world, including the recording I put on youtube last night of a guy in Cocoa Florida talking to a guy in Melbourne, Australia. https://youtube/watch?v=Aah0fXuFERE&list=UUOUAhKrFLuhsvm-R03m0X-g Also, more locally, a CODAR radar installation somewhere near by that I havent located yet. https://youtube/watch?v=vB3ZvXJwtOM&index=2&list=UUOUAhKrFLuhsvm-R03m0X-g If youre interested, here are links to my setup. Dont cheap out on that, by the way. The high resistance standard coax cable will cut your receiving ability quite a bit. I went with two premade RG-58 cables from RadioShack: radioshack/product/index.jsp?productId=21220666&filterName=Category Makes all the difference.
