Effective Learning for tango dancers Follow these tips: 1. Develop the sense of rhythm. There are 8 pulses in tango measure. 2. Develop movements. There are 3 areas in your body affecting your dance: legs and feet, pelvis, and torso. Learn how to move fast and slow. 3. Develop the sense of musical phrase, learn how to emphasize end of the phrase. 4. Develop embrace. The quality of embrace directly depends on flexibility, controllability and development of your arms and shoulder girdle. Exercise. 5. Develop reaction. Speed of reaction and ability to react directly depends on amount and complexity of exercises you do daily. 6. Develop sensitivity to a partner. Learn how to follow and how to lead. It is not possible to follow a partner which does not have neither rhythm nor movements. 7. Develop the sense of space. Go in all directions. In relation to you, to your partner, and in relation to a room. Choose directions consciously. Learn how to turn controllably. 8. Physical fitness is essential. Exercise. I advise running fast cross-country and gymnastics. 9. Learn well all tango elements: steps, pauses and poses, foot changes, pivots, arrepentidas, boleos, barridas, paradas, ganchos, leg wraps, sacadas, lapis, apilado. All of them are possible to practice without a partner. Women must know how to dance everything without a partner. Men must know how to follow.
