Effective Saturday, January 3rd, 2015, the compost site in Nashville, will be closed for the winter. The last scheduled compost day will be Wednesday, December 31st, 2014 weather permitting. The compost site will reopen again on Wednesday, April 1st, 2015. During the closure, if you accumulate a large volume of compostable material, please contact the Department of Public Works at 327-8918. An attempt will be made to arrange access to the compost site. Also, Christmas trees will be picked up on next Monday, January 5th as well as Monday, January 12th, in addition to curb-side pickup for leaf bags. All items must be set out before 7 AM and stacked near the curb unless other arrangements are made in advance. Leaves must be in compostable paper bags and Christmas trees should have all tinsel, ribbons, lights and anything else removed.
