Effective with the release of this position announcement, Winrock International will be recruiting applicants for the position of Climate Change Specialist/Academic Institutions with Agriculture Education and Market Improvement Program (AEMIP). POSITION TITLE: Climate Change Specialist/Academic Institutions LOCATION: GUINEA PROGRAM SUMMARY: USAID-funded Agriculture Education and Market Improvement Program (AEMIP) is a four-year program to strengthen AET within Guinea, focused primarily on human and institutional capacity development for strengthened AET of ISAVF, Guinea’s only agriculture university, with important linkages with the five certificate-level AET institutions across Guinea. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The climate change specialist will serve on a three-person core baseline study team to conduct a thorough baseline study for the climate change integration component focused on academic institutions. The assignment will be approximately 32 days, beginning last week of January with home base preparation, then field visits during February, final week at home base preparing baseline study and recommendations. QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND: • Over five years’ experience in integrating climate change adaptation into academic programs, preferably in West Africa universities • Academic degree (advanced degree preferred) within one of the following disciplines: agriculture, rural development, natural resources management, forestry, ecosystems management, biodiversity or similar • Experience developing and executing applied learning/service learning/practical learning projects in climate change adaptation for faculty and students within an academic institution • Ongoing participation in West Africa regional and international networks for climate change adaptation • Demonstrated command of West Africa regional and international norms and protocols for climate change adaptation • Demonstrated experience coordinating and cooperating with national stakeholders in climate change and education (such as ministries of agriculture and forestry, environment, education, vocational training, etc) • French language fluency Fay E.
