Egg Noggs Adventure Walk: Hi there Katie! Thank you so much for generously sponsoring an Adventure Walk for a dog awaiting their forever home at Richmond Animal Control. Kenan (the dog you chose from one of our trees) was lucky enough to find his forever home before our Adventure Walk! Since he was adopted, he left a note asking me to take out his pal Egg Nog in is place. Egg Nog is an absolutely loveable grey and white Pit Bull mix. Shes a young, energetic, and super friendly 1 year old pup and boy was she happy to spend some time out of the shelter and down at the river! Before we left the shelter, I spent a few minutes in her kennel to introduce myself and she was happy to make a quick friend! She came right up to me and greeted me with a couple gentle kisses and plenty of snuggles! I geared her up with a harness and leash then we headed outside. Egg Nog didnt seem to familiar with the car and was a bit nervous about getting in, but once I lifted her in, she settled right down on the dog bed and relaxed for the entire ride! We made our way to Reedy Creek and Egg Nog was excited to get out and stretch her legs when we arrived! I let her out of the car and she hopped right out and put her nose to work. She began sniffing the ground and then air to get familiar with her surroundings and she wasnt the least bit nervous about being somewhere new! We hit the trail and Egg Nog was great on her leash! She pulled a little bit, but still stuck really close by and constantly looked back at me to check and see if I was still following her :) After a few minutes, we ran into my co-worker, Danny, who was walking another Pit Bull mix girl named Dream Baby Dream also from Richmond Animal Control. Egg Nog was excited to make more new friends and she and Dream Baby Dream got along great! Egg Nog is a big goober that likes to jump around and play and Dream Baby Dream wanted to play too! They did a bit of polite wrestling then we continued our walk toward the 21st St. rocks with them at our side. Egg Nog loved having even more company and she was incredibly friendly to everything and everyone else we saw along the trail! When we got to the rocks, I walked Egg Nog over to the water to see if she was interested in taking a dip. She got her paws in a bit and investigated, but ultimately decided that her place was on dry land. We did a bunch of rock hopping and Egg Nog got to play with Dream Baby Dream a bit more! She had so much fun and she had a big smile on her face the whole time! When it was time for us to get going, we walked back to the parking lot and Egg Nog walked right with me the entire way! Just before we got to the parking lot, we encountered another co-worker of mine, Harmony, who was walking another Richmond Animal Control dog named Barby the Boy. He looked like Egg Nogs long lost brother because he was another grey and white Pit Bull mix who was just as handsome as could be! They had the exact same play style too and they both loved jumping all over each other and wrestling for a couple minutes. After that, Egg Nog was thoroughly exhausted for the ride home. I lifted her into the car again and she took a little nap on the way back to the shelter. I spent a bit more time with her in the parking lot of the shelter and she was able to meet a bunch of my co-workers....let me tell you, this girl LOVES getting attention! She snuggled up in their laps for butt scratches and ear rubs and she loved every moment of it! I also had a pocket full of treats that she was eager to work for! She seemed to already know sit and I think she would do just about anything for a treat and would be easy to train! Thank you so much again for sponsoring this Adventure Walk! I made a great friend as a result ofyour generosity and Egg Nog got to have an awesome morning at the river! Our hike together gave her the chance to get some exercise, mental stimulation, socialization, and playtime with tons of people and dogs and that brings her one step closer to finding her forever home! This was a fantastic holiday treat for the both of us and I cannot thank you enough. Have a happy holiday and a great new year! Egg Nogg is available with Richmond Animal Care and Control.
