Egmont.. Shot from the Pouakai Range, Egmont National Park, NZ A vista like this could easily be one of the most special in the entire country. I only spent a few days at Egmont National Park, but I look forward to spending a lot more time within its boundaries in the future exploring off the beaten track, it definitely impressed me with accessibility, beauty and variety. TECHNICAL TIP: This image was captured solely for use in black and white. I used a red filter to intensify the blues (Blue +Red = Blackish).. This is an old technique used in the film days, but works just as well in the digital world. The only downside is, you are committing yourself to a B+W image in post production, but ingeneral I find the B+W image to be smoother in tonal graduations as I am not having to push pixels in post production so much to get the contrast I am after.. I have included the color version of the file as well.
