Egypt: Needing support for Religious unity among Egyptians The people of Egypt are better educated, emotionally charged and very nationalistic about their country. Very hard core Egyptian Muslims would help their Coptic countrymen to live and entertain day to day life as they would like to live themselves. As always, a micro minority would find the given opportunity by the devil to flare up the inter religious riots and divide the nation which needed more unity in the modern times. On 10th January, 2011, Egypt’s majority Muslim population stuck to its word to protect fellow Coptic population of Egypt on this Thursday night. What had been a promise of solidarity to the weary Coptic community, was honoured, when thousands of Muslims showed up at Coptic Christmas eve mass services in churches around the country and at candle light vigils held outside. From the well-known to the unknown, Muslims had offered their bodies as “human shields” for last night’s mass, making a pledge to collectively fight the threat of Islamic militants and towards an Egypt free from sectarian strife. “We either live together, or we die together,” was the sloganeering genius of Mohamed El-Sawy, a devout Muslim and arts tycoon whose cultural centre distributed flyers at churches in Cairo Thursday night, and who has been credited with first floating the “human shield” idea. Among those shields were movie stars Adel Imam and Yousra, popular preacher Amr Khaled, the two sons of President Hosni Mubarak, and thousands of citizens who have said they consider the attack on Coptics in Egypt as an attack of Egyptians as a whole. The three photographs are supporting evidence that Muslims in Egypt are not religiously extremists but extremism has no religion and such a menace attempts to destroy the noble concept of religious tolerance inculcated by The Last Messenger Prophet Mohammad (PBUH); The Mercy for the whole of Humankind. Such a mercy shall be implemented and helped prevailed by all Peace-lovers of the world and Religions should be the source of human respect, dignity for all, coexistence by all and reverence to The Creator Lord The-God (Amen / Ameen).
