Egypt bans flights to and from Mitiga and Misrata: “turns back plane” Tripoli, 27 November 2014: The Egyptian government is today reported to have refused to allow a Libyan Airlines flight to land in Alexandria, as it imposed a blanket ban on all flights to and from airports within Libya Dawn-controlled parts of the country. The aircraft had taken off this morning from Tripoli’s Mitiga airport, which has once again reopened for flights, after two air raids by Libyan National Army warplanes earlier this week. It has not been possible to confirm the landing refusal with Libyan Airlines. The raids, though causing only minor damaged, twice caused Mitiga to be shut down with all flights being diverted to the other Libya Dawn airport, at Misrata. The only airlines that have been flying between Mitiga and Misrata and Alexandria and Cairo are Afriqiyah, Libyan Airlines and Buraq. Source: Libya Herald
