Egyptian TV Channel Devotes Extensive Spaces to Cuban Revolution Cairo, Egypt.-The historic ties between Cuba and Egypt, cooperation power, and the U.S. blockade were analyzed today by Cuban ambassador Otto Vaillant, at a program of one of the main TV channels of this country. Fidel Castro and Raul Castro are symbols of humanism and world solidarity, the diplomat said about the legacy of the Cuban Revolution for the Third World, included its condition as a founding member of the Non-Aligned Movement as well as Egypt of President Gamal Abdel Nasser. Vaillant alluded at a TV program the friendship between the Cuban commander-in-chief and Nasser, based on the coincidence of their points on international policy. Regarding his countrys solidarity, the Cuban diplomatic head referred to the medical, educational and sports cooperation included the provision of free university scholarships to underprivileged students. More than 50,000 youth from all continents have been graduated in Cuba, and a higher figure to 31,000 physicians and health technicians are working in 69 nations, thanks to this policy of sharing what we have with other peoples worldwide, he stressed. The diplomat also talked of the successful holding in Cuba of the 2nd Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), attended by 33 delegations, 29 of them led by heads of State and Government. Vaillant examined in depth the case of the Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly condemned in U.S. jails after the holding, amid a campaign of hatred, of a trial described as illegal by the UN body due to lack of legal rights. Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero, Ramon Labañino, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez were condemned to harsh sentences and subdued to frequent punishments and periods of isolation. Rene Gonzalez already completed his sentence and returned to his country. The Cuban embassy, in coordination with Egyptian authorities, will open next month an exhibit of comics and the launch of a volume of letters by the Five, translated into Arab language.
