Eight days from now the polls open. Those who have not voted early or by mail will stream to various locations to cast their ballots for the candidates of their choice. Unfortunately, there are some who despite requesting and receiving a vote by mail ballot will not return them, and others will not go to the polls or vote at all. Naturally, I hope everyone who is eligible to vote does so. I hope I have earned your vote if you are in State Board of Education District 8. But most of all I hope you will honor the right and the responsibility of casting your vote, for whomever you please. I hope we will honor the memory of Anthony Lamere (about whom I wrote earlier) and all those who have sacrificed so we maintain this right.
