Eight people have been arrested and three police officers injured during a fight which involved an axe in Linwood. Christchurch Police Response Commander, Inspector Derek Erasmus says they received multiple reports of fighting in Carnarvon Street involving about 20 people. While making an arrest, police were attacked by other people from the property resulting in more arrests being made. Three police with head injuries were taken to Christchurch Hospital A&E. Those arrested have been charged with varying offences including Assault with Intent to Injure, Assault on a Police Dog and Obstruction of Police and will appear in courts next week.
