Eight years ago I achieved my greatest goal in life when I became a mother. Some people my scoff and say that is a small ambition, but I can tell you that I had the same passion for this dream that anyone who has ever hoped to become an astronaut, a President or an award-winning movie star has had. So I am enormously blessed to have been living my dream for so many years now and even more blessed that my dream stretches out into all the foreseeable years ahead of me. My Birth Story with Thomas and Everett did not go as I had hoped, and did not go as well as it could have. I have largely come to terms with that, and as part of my process I have concocted a Birth Tale... a re-telling that, at its heart, has more truth than the facts of my Birth Story. It is a work in progress, I will likely tweak and change as the years go by, but here it is in its current incarnation should you care to read on :) **************************** Once upon a time, there was a young woman who was full of hopes and dreams. Of all these hopes and dreams, her greatest desire was that she would someday become a mother. It came to pass that she met a wonderful man and they decided to marry. Before long they agreed that they were ready and eager to become parents together. Nearly as soon as they had spoken their wish, the great blessing of life began to grow inside the young woman. Now, it just so happened that her desire to become a mother was so big and her love for this new life was so enormous, that it simply could not be contained in one single soul and by the loving power of the Universe, the beginnings one small life became two! It was with wonder and amazement that the young man and woman watched as Nature took good care of the two strong boys as they grew in the protective embrace of their mother’s womb. As it turned out, Fate was impatient with Nature and wanted to introduce the baby boys to the world that awaited them. Fate worked her strong magic and the small baby boys were pulled from their mother’s body a bit before Nature had intended, just two days after the mother had celebrated her own birthday. But both Fate and Nature were kind and the baby boys were healthy and strong and through their early birth, the parents were given a gift of more days to look upon the boys and hold them and know them than if Nature had had Her way. And just the young woman’s flesh had stretched beyond what she had thought possible to grow the baby boys inside her, the experience of being their mother has stretched her heart and mind ever further with each day they have graced her with the miracle of their presence, the most wonderful belated birthday gift she could ever have wanted. Every day she is thankful to the Universe, Nature and Fate for hearing and answering her most cherished prayer so spectacularly.
