Eight years ago, I could not speak above a whisper. My doctor, a respected specialist in his field, told me that in all of his years of practice, symptoms like mine were typically not good, usually cancerous. But my physician also assured me that God was in control and that he would allow Him to guide his hands through my impending surgery. Within weeks, following surgery on my vocal cords, I began speaking in a familiar tone, which in a lot of ways was a bit scary, since I had not heard my "normal" voice for over a year.
