Eileidh had a relatively settled night but she was waking in pain every time she filled her nappy & she had 2 explosive ones!! Shes been like this since last night, whenever she tries to fill her nappy. She starts screaming in pain when she starts & continues to scream until she has a clean nappy on. They are now giving her a push of morphine when it starts to get sore & have started her on Instillagel, which is basically a local anaesthetic gel to help numb her bum & ease some of the pain. The pain team have also put her on a constant stream of background morphine at 0.7ml per hour. Its been a better day than yesterday was though. Her mouth isnt as sore and she has stopped drooling so much. She even ate half a banana, although she still hasnt had anything to drink. Blood cultures that were taken yesterday have come back showing that there is an infection in her line. They took more bloods earlier on to double check this & also to grow the cultures to find out what the infection is. She had her usual Ondansatron, Metoclopramide, Ursodeoxycholic Acid & Aciclovir as well as still being on TPN, Lipid & Nutrini feed. They have also kept the SATS monitor on her to keep an eye on her. Her temperature has been lower today, staying in the 36s & 37s. Her platelets have dropped again to 29 but she hasnt needed a transfusion yet. Eileidh has smiled much more today which was brilliant to see. She was a happy little magpie when Granda arrived! She also spoke to Ciaran & Cerys tonight on Skype :) Sleepy girl tonight as she hasnt slept at all today so hopefully she will have a good night...
