Einstein is my oldest of 3 at 11.5 yrs old. During his years, he has battled through horrible allergies, cherry eyes, ear infections, torn cruciate, antibiotic resistant staph, you name it and hes beat it. A couple of months ago we found a growth on his prostate and urethra which turned out to be cancer (transitional cell tumor). Chemo isnt effective for what he has so we are focused on slowing the growth as much as possible (hes on meds for this) and keeping him comfortable. About a year ago I switched him to a homemade raw diet and now he only gets fresh, natural foods and his treats are all fruit or vegetables (which he loves - especially apples and blueberries). He also gets yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs and some meat in his diet along with probiotics and coconut oil. While he is slower and Im sure his joints are achy, I swear he is feeling better than ever because of his diet. If I could do anything different or give any advice to new bully owners I would say go natural from the start. I honestly believe if I had been feeding him fresh food instead of processed food all of his life he would not have had to deal with so many health issues all his life. Even with cancer he seems to look better, his skin is clearer, his coat looks better, his ears and eyes are clearer and healthier than they have ever been. The vet is quite surprised at how good he looks for his age and past health issues. Hes got a pep in his step - especially at meal time. I consulted with a nutritionist to be sure I had the right balance so I wasnt just winging it. If you have a bully with bad allergies or skin issues - i suggest trying it out! Im grateful for all of the time I have had and still have with Einstein and wish for the same for all other bully owners!
