Eish The South Africans have got another spot in AFRICA The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has through SAFA confirmed, that two additional South African clubs will be participating in the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup. By virtue of South Africa being rated as one of the top 12 African countries as far as club competitions are concerned, Mzansi will now be represented by two clubs in the CAF Champions League instead of one, whilst the same will apply in the CAF Confederation Cup. This means that South Africa will have four clubs participating in continental competitions this year. Mamelodi Sundowns, who won the league, as well as runners-up, Kaizer Chiefs will fight it out in the CAF Champions League. Nedbank Cup winners, Orlando Pirates, and third- place finishers in the Absa Premiership, Wits, qualify for slots in the Confederation Cup. All four clubs have been asked to confirm their participation. PSL CEO, Brand de Villiers revealed in a statement “This is good news for the PSL and South African football at large as this provides an opportunity for our clubs to compete at international level and gain valuable experience. Through continental participation we also get an opportunity to showcase our League globally and to increase our footprint.” ZVAVOO
