Ekiti monarch backs Fayemi re-election bid The Elekole of Ikole Ekiti, Oba Ajibade Fasiku, has said he will support the re-election of Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, since that is what the people in his domain want. Fasiku said this in Ikole on Thursday when chiefs of the ruling Action Congress of Nigeria from Ikole Local Government Area paid him a courtesy call to formally inform the monarch of the support of the people for the governor. The leaders of the party included ACN chairman in Ikole Local Government, Chief Sesan Iyinade; Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Chief Ranti Adebisi; Chairman, Waste Disposal Management Board, Chief Morakinyo Adebayo; and Chairman, Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Afolabi Ogunlayi, among others. The party had earlier held a rally in the town, where members unanimously endorsed Fayemi for second term, saying his achievements were unprecedented in the history of the state. Fasiku said although monarchs were not supposed to be engaged in partisan politics but he said he aligned with the choice of his subjects. He said, “ Obas do not engage in politics but they know what is good. This government is good and we know it. If the past administrations had worked hard the way Fayemi is doing, this state would have been better. But we will support what the people want.”
