Ekiti poll, litmus test for 2015 elections -NSCDC THE Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Saturday commended the peaceful conduct of the governorship election in Ekiti, describing it as a litmus test for the 2015 general elections. Mr Evans Ewurum, the corps’s Deputy Commandant General, said this after monitoring the voting exercise in some polling units in the state. Ewurum said INEC’s success in the Ekiti poll would provide a basis for determining the outcome of the forthcoming general elections in 2015. He maintained that there was no serious threat to public peace inspite of pockets of disagreements in some polling units. The NSCDC boss said the mass deployment of security personnel across the state was to ensure a hitch-free exercise, adding that the large turnout indicated the resolve of voters to exercise their franchise.
