Ekos poll is troubling. If it is even a bit close to reality & the resulting seats distribution is close, the Conservatives are facing disaster. Considering that the Harper govt has handled the fiscal issues superbly, it is difficult to buy the poll results as reality. I am pleased at our tough leadership stance on International issues but this wont win seats. We are talking tough but lack the force to make any of it happen. Most Cdns will support a stronger military because of Russias poaching in the Ukraine. Our North looks like ripe picking also if we cant defend what is ours. I recommen that Harper float a plan for Forces strengthening for after the next election. I also suggest that he adopt a Canadians First theme which directs his next campaign at domestic affairs.. We have many weaknesses that must be solved if we want to attract votes at every economic level. We talk about consumers first but still allow producers of staples to rule by rigid marketing controls that financially penalize consumers Our veterans are in a revolt stance & will take their concerns to the people in an election. Under present leadership & enforced conditions the vets, families & friends will punish whomever they consider responsible. Headway has been made on aboriginal affairs but its still an unhealthy mess which needs correction. Too many seniors & the needy are still suffering which is damned sad in our wealthy country. I favor social contributions internationally as long as there is accountability which is presently not visible to me. It is difficult to feel good about international donations when Canadians are damned near as bad off. I lived through the depression so know what these needy Cdns are feeling. Most politicians dont get it because they never went through hungry times. The same applies to veterans issues.In my day, many politicians had served in war & were receptive to the need of vets but that is no longer the case.. Some things in life can only be felt deeply by direct involvement. I could go on & on with comments about immigration, justice, violent protests, radicalism & miltancy etc but Ive shared enough to hopefylly make my point. Canada still has a ways to go on correcting domestic problems. Im convinced that the path to winning the next election is right here at home. There are a hell of a lot of disenchanted voters out there
