El Paso County Invites Local Businesses to Procurement Trade Show Learn How To Get Government Business Directly From Local Purchasing Professionals El Paso County is one among many organizations participating in the regional vendor exhibit showcase hosted by the Rocky Mountain Governmental Purchasing Association on Thursday, Dec. 11. The Winter Vendor Trade Show will give businesses the opportunity to showcase their products and services, as well as have the opportunity to network 1-on-1 with 10 different member agencies. The 1-on-1 exchange with select member agencies provides vendors the opportunity to meet with 10 different agencies in a smaller setting. There are only 10 spots and they are filled on a first-come basis. Participants will have the opportunity to meet with purchasing divisions from various public entities from all over Colorado and Wyoming. El Paso County buys a wide variety of products and services every year, and most purchases come from local or state vendors, contractors and suppliers. Pre-registration and proper paperwork is required and the procurement specialists at the Winter Vendor Trade Show can help business owners navigate the process and learn how to submit a winning bid. “As part of the County’s Strategic Plan the Contracts and Procurement Division provides training and outreach to our local vendors and contractors in an effort to teach them how to do business with the County and to keep the local economy healthy.” said Eileen Gonzales, El Paso County Contracts and Procurement Manager. “Over the last ten years we have averaged a local spend of 69.5 percent annually, the 2013 spending was at 68 percent of all purchases made by El Paso County with local vendors, 23 percent in-state and only 9 percent with out of state firms. Participation in the Vendor Exhibit Showcase helps the vendors market themselves to the government entities and gives us an opportunity to learn about them and their products and capabilities. It is a win for them, a win for us at the County, and an overall economic win for the constituents.” Take advantage of this “Government 2 Business” outreach opportunity by browsing the tables and displays and talking directly with public procurement representatives from city and county governments, school districts, higher education, special districts and state agencies.
