Elaine Jones of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, participating a panel on Voting Rights said, "Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act is the car and Section 4 are the keys! They (meaning Supreme Court) took the keys and left the car" to prevent the over 1,000 attempts since the 1965 passage of the Voting Rights Act to pass laws that would have suppressed the right! Justice Thomas said he would have taken away the car by eliminating Section 5. She called for a "new tamper-free lock (section 4b)" that will ensure we protect our right to vote.
