Elderly couple #1- traveling on my flight from Orlando to Trenton this morning. Been together 71 years.. were helping each other walk, addressed each other as my love, held hands during the flight, I even saw them steal a kiss (not sure why this part was so surprising to me..) Elderly couple #2- were sat at a table adjacent to the one where my crew sat out to dinner tonight..turns out they had caught more than just my eye because upon their leaving another crew member asked Did anyone else notice that they did not once talk to each other the whole time they were here? I had which had lead me to people watch them thinking about the couple from this morning.. not only did they not talk or smile, they almost seemed to deliberately avoid eye contact like people do with strangers (you know what I mean..) Yes, there could be a hundred explanations for people to behave that way. Perhaps a fight or a distressing situation that preoccupies them but the possibility that its not something else.. and that is just the norm was most unsettling of all to me.
