Elections over but bickering continues in Congress TNN | Nov 30, 2014, 02.52 PM IST 1 CHANDIGARH: Much to the embarrassment of Congress leadership, infighting in the party came to fore again during the general body meeting of Haryana Pardesh Congress Committee (HPCC). The meeting was convened to chalk out further course of action after the Congresss humiliating defeat in assembly polls. Things turned so bad that some Congressmen, owing alliance to the former CM Bhupinder Hooda, hooted and shouted down former irrigation minister Ajay Singh Yadav when he raised issued of lopsided development in Haryana during 10 years of Congress rule in the state. The meeting, which lasted for over two hours, was supposed to discuss the measures to be adopted by workers and leaders to ensure a comeback in the state. Barring former industries minister Randeep Surjewala, Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda and Rajya Sabha MP Shadi Lal Batra, all Congress MLAs and Rajya Sabha MPs attended the meeting. AICC general secretary Shakeel Ahmed also attended the meeting, which was jointly chaired by Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Kiran Choudhary and HPCC president Ashok Tanwar. Former CM Bhupinder Hooda attended the meeting in the capacity of outgoing CLP leader. Former Union minister and Rajya Sabha MP Selja said, We all are responsible for partys defeat in Haryana. Soon after her Mehem MLA Anand Singh Dangi, who owns allegiance to Hooda, without naming Selja said, The situation would not have been so bad if the previous speaker would have joined the campaign. Tempers started running high as soon as Ajay Singh Yadav started speaking. Putting it to Hooda and his team, Yadav categorically said that the Congress was reduced to one man party. Workers and leaders were ignored and the government didnt give them space even in the market committees. This triggered resentment among Hooda supporters and amidst AICC general secretary Shakeel Ahmeds repeated requests to Yadav, latter walked out of the venue. Irate Yadav alleged that he was not allowed to speak. Not withstanding the fact that bickering happened in full public view, HPCC president Ashok Tanwar and AICC general secretary Shakeel Ahmed called the meeting a positive development while ruling out any infighting. Meeting had been called to compliment the outgoing CLP leader Hooda ji and his team, and to facilitate new CLP leader Kiran Chodhary ji. Rest, we discussed future course of action and our programmes will start from December 15, Ahmed said.
