Electric float parade showcases Aringay’s milkfish BY: JOANNE NAMNAMA G. PARROCHA Friday 7th of March 2014 SAN FERNANDO CITY, March 7 (PIA) – Aringay town, known for its bangus (milkfish), paraded its most popular product during the electric float parade held recently. Julie San Andres, of the Mayor’s Office, said the floats focused on milkfish considered as Aringay’s one-town-one-product (OTOP). San Andres said the town was honored to host the event as it is a way to support the provincial government and an opportunity to promote the town’s tourism. “Each float was designed with the town’s popular products,” she said. Since most milkfish supply in the province comes from Aringay town, the float with milkfish design shined during the parade. The local government said at least 10,000 domestic and foreign visitors joined the festivity which was one of the highlights of La Union’s 164th founding anniversary. At least 23 floats designed with colorful lights and indigenous materials paraded around the town where the candidates for Mutia ti La Union also rode.
