Electrical Engineer II (AVS) Basin - Beulah, ND Basin Electric has an opening for: Electrical Engineer II (AVS) Job Description This position works with NERC standards to ensure compliance and is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position. The incumbent is responsible for gathering and evaluating data on power plant system components to recommend operational or design changes to improve plant efficiency and to meet the generation needs of the plant. This position provides engineering support of electrical and control systems modifications or upgrades. The incumbent assists or directs coordinating activities associated with general maintenance repairs or modification projects as assigned. This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position which may allow physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems. This position may allow access to privileged information relating to such assets or systems. This position will be required to strictly adhere to all Basin Electric policies, procedures, and programs applicable to the Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) requirements. Required Skills Frequently requires walking, standing, sitting, and using a keyboard. Occasionally requires stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders; reaching above and below shoulder level; crawling, pushing/ pulling up to 60 pounds; and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; finger dexterity, good color vision and hearing, and the ability to speak. Frequently works around noise, and occasionally in areas of dirt/dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat and cold, vibration, poor ventilation, electrical risks, high pressure fluid systems, rotating machinery, and in confined areas. The incumbent maybe required to work at heights up to 600 feet and access all areas of the plant site. This position must be respirator qualified. Occasionally required to operate machinery; assist maintenance staff as needed; analyze data and reports; conduct research; implement recommendations; develop plans, procedures, accomplish goals; and work under pressure to meet deadlines. Required Experience This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an EAC/ABET accredited electrical engineering program and 3 years of related engineering experience. An Engineer in Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification and knowledge of engineering principles and practives is required. The applicant must have good oral and written communications, and computer skills. The applicant must be proficient in Microsoft Office. A valid driver’s license and some travel is required.
