Electricity Failure Stall Fraud Suspect, Fred Ajuduas Bail Application LAGOS FEBRUARY 21ST (URHOBOTODAY) Several scheduled cases at the State High court in Ikeja today were canceled due failure of electricity supply. The erratic supply of power caused many court rooms to resume their businesses late, and upon resumption when electricity came up, it did not last up to fifteen minutes. Power generating plants in the court also broke down. It worked a few minutes and failed again. An application for bail by multiple fraud suspect, Fred Ajudua was also stalled due to the failure of electricity. When power came on the first time after it kept court redundant, the judge, Kudirat Jose was presiding on other civil cases logged ahead of Ajuduas, but she did not conclude with any of of it before power failed again. The judge rose on account of the outage and announced to resume once power would be restored. After long waiting without respite however, the court registrar announced adjournment of Fred Ajuduas case due to the electricity problem. Other judges also canceled matters scheduled before them. A judge, whose courtroom sits near that of Justice Ajose, Lawal Akapo was sighted using torchlight to scribble notes before suspending his own proceeding. Fred Ajuduas trial has spanned over ten years without tangible results. Apart from being tried for defrauding two Dutch businessmen of $1.6million, Mr. Ajudua is also facing charges of receiving money while in prison custody from General Bamaiyi to help corrupt a judge, Olubunmi Oyewole. General Bamaiyi has in turn been alleged of attempting to corrupt a judge in order to pervert justice. Ajuduas application for bail has been adjourned to the 12th of March, 2014 for hearing.
