Elephant Neighbors Center March 19th 2014 H.E PRESIDENT OF REPUBLIC OF KENYA Dear Sir, ... It is now one year since you took office; allow me to present best wishes to you and Kenya. In the hope of achieving vision 2030 and a shift to the digital generation, it is my responsibility to share among others what the analogue generation known as poachers are doing to our wildlife. In the past our founding father who is biologically related to you sir, left a legacy where despite the white man hunting habits, most of our wildlife was preserved until a time when lack of foreign currency pushed the government to seek alternative sources of revenue including sport hunting. On a daily basis we are losing at least four elephants and now the rhino is in a death row at least two killed every month in the 70’s Kenya had a population of elephants of 0ver 167,000 and currently there are less than 30000 elephants . It is a shame that despite the huge wage bill and deployment of staff to protect this fragile heritage, we are losing more and more. Sir I am not writing this note lamenting on what is happening, Yes I know you are the most informed Kenyan on security and other intelligent information’s, you are the youngest African and most suitable to influence conservation for the African wildlife. Despite the many challenges yes your world is law, for the sake of my great grand children help save the African wildlife. A Kenyan youth beyond 2130 will have a very nasty experience, trying to understand what we are now taking for granted. One of the great animal was the elephant which it image is secretly engraved on the Kenyan currency of the earlier days. Grand pa, what did you do to preserve them for me? Or was it revenge because your grand pa never preserved the dinosaurs for you? Is it that you never had enough money to always hunt for trophies or why did even the president of the time never, rescued these worthless treasures” Mr. President Sir, save us from these night mare. We at the Elephant Neighbors Centre have been walking “Ivory belongs to elephants campaign walk” on foot for over 3000km here in Kenya and in USA and still going more every day to preserve for the future. We have so far been able to reach to over 5 millions Kenyan and they are all sending one message “they need your indulgence Sir. We celebrate your H.E First Lady for joining us in this campaign, but we are far from reaching the entire world. With this pen let your voice start the walk, let every Kenyan patriotic heart overcome the poverty, corruption, and social injustices. Whenever I walk I emphasized a lot your words during your inauguration that Poachers has no place in this country; help us our big brother! Let Kenya become the land of plenty peace and love God bless Kenya Yours faithfully, Jim Nyamu- Executive Director Elephant Neighbors Center
