Eleven Reasons Why A Soul Remains Earthbound By Al Willen. I believe that the state known in the Catholic Religion as Purgatory is really souls that are trapped between where they were (in a physical body), and where they should be. There are several reasons why a persons soul remains earthbound: 1. They dont realize that theyre dead due to the suddenness of their death and/or because of their age at the time of their death (i.e. very young or very old). 2. They have unfinished business. (Overplayed in fiction.) 3. They wish to guide and/or defend people who are living and who are dear to them. This is a misguidance on their part, for had they moved on, (as they are supposed to), they could come back in visitation as a powerful Spirit Guide. 4. They wish to continue living vicariously through the living. When this is excessive, these spirits are called (in the Jewish faith) Dybbuks. People with addictions often attract spirits who were similarly addicted when those souls were alive. 5. Theyre hoping that someones soul will leave that persons body and that they can then take over that body before it decays. These are called Walk Ins. 6. They seek revenge or vengeance. This condition is overplayed in movies and books. Usually, souls are more content in just moving on than in finding their killer(s). However, in extreme conditions -- when the spirit is consumed with hatred -- that spirit turns into a Wraith. 7. They are obsessively attached to material objects (i.e. a home), and are very territorial when the living use those objects, or live in their space. 8. They were horrible people in life, and now in death, can terrorize the living. i.e. pretend that they are demons. 9. In a similar ways, some lost souls do Point #8 by becoming psychic/energy vampires. They prey off the living by tapping in on those peoples energy. They become stronger while their victims become depressed, weak, and sickly. 10. They lost their way. They know that they should move on, but somehow are stuck here. 11. They are afraid of being judged harshly by a vengeful God. They dont feel worthy in moving on because they feel that God will send them to Hell for something that they did while alive. They dont know or understand the life review process. They dont realize that God loves all unconditionally. Sometimes it takes me just listening to them -- functioning as a Confessor -- for them to feel worthy enough to move on. This is a biggie. Every time I connect with Spirits, dozens come to me for help. Despite what you may have heard, they usually dont say, GET OUT, ... but rather Please help me ...
