Eleven members of the Social Studies Division faculty will be giving presentations at the 94th National Council for Social Studies annual conference in Boston tomorrow through Sunday. Presenters and their topics include: • “Psychology Peer Evaluation” by Jenna Breuer, Nancy Fenton, Laura Brandt, Stephanie Levenbrook and Laurie Feinzimer; • “Improving Literacy Skills for All Students in the Government Classroom” by Michelle Stone and Maureen Rubenstein; • “Civic Education in Sociology through Service Learning and Action Research” and “Reading/Writing for High School Sociology in the Classroom to Engage Critical and Creative Thinking” by Chris Salituro; • “Active Citizenship in AP Government” by Andy Conneen and Vanessa Lal; • “Civics in Action Reducing the Federal Budget by 2020” for AP Government and AP Macroeconomics by Sandra Wright and Michelle Stone; • “US History Formative Assessment: Merging Content and 21st Century Literacy Skills” by Dave Elbaum and Director of Assessment, Research and Evaluation Tony Reibel. • “Map It Out” by Greg Sherwin and Parisa Watson of Westosha Central High School in Salem, Wisconsin.
