Eleven years ago this morning, I woke up to find that the world had less Johnny Cash in it as the Man in Black had passed away. Forty years of listening to his music rushed through the memories. I was running a website, still am, called “Maninblack.net”. It crashed to the ground with the onslaught of web hits that occurred. The same was true of JohnnyCash. E Boards and national news broadcast were filled with images and memories as well. Dylan called him the “North Star.” Even Springsteen opened his show up with “I Walk The Line” that night. A friend of mine says we all have our own “personal Johnny.” Some knew him as the somber Man In Black, others as a man full of life and laughter called “JR”, and others as the finger-flippin’ rebel….the most ripped off picture in the world. I knew him as the guy who took rhyme, rhythm and meaning to song for me. As they said about Lincoln and is the same for Cash, “he belongs to the ages.” We may come and go, but the “Man in Black” will remain. Keep it Cash! Mike
