Eli update: so we have sent Elijahs MRI and angiogram reports to Boston Childrens Hospital and Dr Ed Smith, who is a pediatric neurosurgeon, has looked at them and his opinion is that the AVM is inoperable, which we had gathered here from a failed attempt to embolize, or glue it shut. This is good, if they were to have glued it, eli would have lost a lot of function because of where the AVM is located in his brain. All in the Lords plan. Boston Childrens Hospital is number 1 in the nation for treating cerebrovascular disease in children. We feel this is where the Lord has led us to get treatment. That being said, Eli is a candidate for radiosurgery/radiation, to shrink the vessels over time. We are unsure if that will be gamma knife, or proton beam. We are also unsure when that is to take place. I will be in touch with Dr Smith regarding some other reports and we will either take a visit to see him in Boston, or discuss via phone, what the plan is. AVMs are routinely treated at Mass General Hospital using radiation in children. This is very encouraging to us as there isnt anywhere close by that treats these on a regular basis in kids. We want the best for Eli. Please be praying that the Lord gives us, and the Dr wisdom as we create a plan of action. Please pray for elijahs continued safety as he is still at risk to have another brain bleed at any time.
