Eliane had a really good day today! The iron, blood, and saline did a great job of giving her strength, and there was a notable change. She was eating well, and just felt much better all around. The GI told us he wanted her to stay a few more days while they can hydrate her with the IV, and see how the medicines continue to work. her colon is still flaring or inflamed, and it will take a while for the treatment to settle it down. Meanwhile, she is making little baby steps of improvement, and although the process is long and slow, at least we can actually see some signs of progress. The medicine she is on, remicade, has a 60 % success rate with patients with Ulcerative Colitis, which is what she has. 60% is much better than 10%! Were just praying for a breakthrough and that she will go into remission soon. If the treatment doesnt get the desired effects within a couple of months, then they will talk about surgery. We are hoping this can be avoided, and all things are possible. The Doctor was very helpful in his explanation, and answered some of my questions about the side effects of the medication, etc. All in all, it was a good day!
