Elias, I just finished reading your article, A King in Zambia: - TopicsExpress

Elias, I just finished reading your article, A King in Zambia: Mwanawina III.., and I must confess I was looking forward to it, and even asked a couple of friends to buy todays Daily Nation. I, however, must say, though well written the article did not really position Mwanawina III in the creation of the Nation-State of Zambia in its proper context. One gets a sense, you are arguing that there would still be the Nation-State of Zambia even if there was no BA64, as KK had a majority in the Barotse National Council elections (an angle I was not aware of. Thanks). To which end, we have two critical questions that we really hope you can now elucidate, as these are not addressed in your article. 1. Isnt Mwanawina III also a father of the Nation-State of Zambia? Why is it that through out the 50 years of our independence he has never been recognised as such? 2. What would have happened if Mwanawina III did not consent to Barotselands partial federation with Northern Rhodesia? Your thoughts will be helpful as we feel the creation of the Nation-State of Zambia and the place of the Barotse King is an issue that as a citizenry we always seem to turn a blind eye to. And hence perhaps, the reason for the resurgence of the BA64 time and again. This you aptly elucidate in your article.
