Eligibility Referral Specialist 1 South Central Ohio Job & Family Services GovernmentSkilled/TradesUncategorized This is a Full-time position in Chillicothe, Logan, and McArthur, Ohio posted July 2, 2014. NATURE OF WORK: Interviews recipients to determine ongoing eligibility for all public assistance programs as assigned. Maintains caseload during eligibility. Notifies recipients of their rights & responsibilities. Verifies all documentation required to determine ongoing eligibility, including inquiry into SETS and other data exchange systems; reviews budgets and authorizes benefits via CRISE system. Accepts telephone calls and answers routine inquiries. Makes appropriate referrals to specialized units and/or other agencies. Cooperates with all other internal units to better serve customers. Communicates with all community resource agencies within the guidelines of Public Assistance confidentiality. Prepares responses to Quality Assurance findings and prepares appeal summaries and other forms. Represents the agency at county conferences and state hearings. Gathers information and makes referrals to Benefit Recovery unit for suspected program fraud and/or over/underpayments. Testifies in court as necessary and when requested. Determines initial eligibility for all Public Assistance programs as assigned, less than 20% of time. Maintains regular and predictable attendance. Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license and maintain insurability under County’s liability insurance carrier. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One year experience as a 30112 – Unit Support Worker 2 , OR one course or six months experience in behavioral science, social science, or customer service techniques, one course or six months experience in business mathematics, one course or six months experience in business English, one course or six months experience in interviewing techniques, and one course or six months experience in typing, keyboarding or word processing OR education, training and/or experience in an amount equal to the Minimum Qualifications stated above. SCOJFS PREFERENCE: Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Sociology or other Human Services–related field; or an Associates degree in Human Services Technology with 1 year experience in a human services related field.
