Elijah is almost through two months of the three month marathon - TopicsExpress

Elijah is almost through two months of the three month marathon period of chemo injections, and the pace is getting ready to pick up significantly. This week Elijah will spend Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in the outpatient center of St. Marys where he will receive at least seven chemo injections. There is also a high possibility of at least a platelet transfusion based on the direction of his blood counts before Thanksgiving. How are we doing as a family? We are thankful, but weary. Elijahs spirit has been amazing through all of this, and we are especially thankful to have gotten a five day break from treatment over the Thanksgiving weekend. Even when his immune system is in the tank, hes largely happy and playful around the house, and the zophran has kept most of the nausea away. But treatment is consuming right now, and it doesnt happen in a bubble. Elijah is but one of four kids, each with their own tremendous needs during this period. I think Emily counted up about 13 doctors appointments that are scheduled or need to happen in the next couple of weeks between all of the kids. And in many ways, on a day to day level Hannahs needs are far more challenging than Elijah. Shes allergic to all things bread and dairy, and also has Sensory Processing Disorder, which manifests itself in her craving to seek over-stimulation and exhibit low self control throughout the day. Im not complaining, except that Im complaining. I know we will crack the code on what works for her, and we are in the middle of a myriad of appointments with doctors, therapists, and other ways to help, but good grief its a grueling process! So please pray that we either have the endurance and wisdom to walk through this, or that Jesus comes back really fast! Or both. On an amazingly happy praise, through your generosity Elijah has raised over $3,800 to feed orphans through his Chemo challenge. This is enough to feed 108 orphans for a month! If you havent gotten involved yet, or if you want to do more, over the month of December a very generous donor has committed to match all gifts given in Elijahs Chemo Challenge! You can help through teamquiverfull, and wed love for you to share with your friends. Thanks again for your prayer, support, and friendship. It means the world.
