Elijah was afraid and fled for his life. ..... He sat down under a solitary broom tree and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life, for I am no better than my ancestors who have already died.” Then he lay down and slept under the broom tree. 1 Kings 19:3-5 NLT God was patient with Elijahs irrational prayer. God knew Elijahs prayer, asking to die was unreasonable because Elijah just needed some rest. Right after that prayer Elijah falls asleep. God is patient with us too when we become over-worked, over-stressed and unreasonable. This is why He told us to do no work on the Sabbath and also tells us, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” -Mark 6:31 NLT
