Elizabeth Jackson just posted: Did you know that the Carolinas only recycles 1 in every 4 bottles?! (This is the easy one too!) At the CRA conference meeting with the Carolina Plastics Recycling Council.....excited to help change this number!! PCM has been working very hard on the efforts for TC. A comprehensive study of Transylvania County and City of Brevard recycling practices was presented to both the City and County, including recommendations for greater performance. (A copy of the report can be downloaded here: peopleforcleanmountains/recycling ) So now we wait. Note that the City of Brevard DOES NOT offer recycling to merchants or restaurants in its jurisdiction. Also of note is that the City was offered a FREE analysis by Waste Zero, who claimed that a pay per throw system would save the City (Taxpayers) roughly $40,000 a year in garbage service costs. As I understand it, Joe Moore declined the free analysis. Does anyone know more about that?
