Elle Update: MRI was read. She does have some navicular edema (swelling of a bone in her foot). The orthopedic surgeon doesnt think its too big of a deal and feels its likely a result of the surrounding swelling. She DOES have a huge pocket of infection inside her foot and ankle that needs to come out as well as cleaning up the outside of the wound as well. The ortho doc has asked a plastic surgeon to be in the first surgery as well as he feels its needed to help close this up. Im getting the picture from a few docs/nurses that we will be here awhile longer than initially planned. I was told they will likely do this all tomorrow morning at some point and are in the works of coordinating the necessary surgeons schedules so they can all be there at once. They re-drew the marker lines on her foot as the infection is still growing (it looked a little better earlier today, but is a little worse tonight). They want to keep a close eye on how fast its spreading. Once surgery is in progress tomorrow, they will biopsy the tissue they remove and know if its a fungus or not while still in the OR. If its a bacteria, then they just need to grow it out to determine which one and treat it appropriately. THANK YOU ALL for prayers - please keep sending them!!!
