Elliott - then and now. Happy birthday to our kind, complicated, complex and compassionate 14-year-old! While he has always been a path less traveled kind of guy, the hopes we had for him from the very beginning remain firmly in place today - valuing family (even the weird ones) through thick and thin, not being afraid of hard work, curiosity and love of the world around him, and a deep appreciation of 80s music. Ok - truth be told, while E is not afraid of hard work (he had 40 hr. therapy weeks starting at age 3), he is rather whiney about it - so that one remains a work in progress. I asked him this morning if he had any words of wisdom to share on this, his 14th birthday. He looked at me and said Mom, can you just not talk today because your voice is really awful. While likely having more to do with the horrible cold the trio passed along to me, Im realizing you cant rush wisdom. Happy Birthday to our E man!
