Ellis Charles Wilensky, 85 of Longwood Florida. Devoted husband to Marilyn Wilensky for 59 years. Beloved father to Michael Wilensky and wife Sharon of Longwood Florida, Stacey Overcash and husband Steve of Port Orange Florida and Steven (Ski) Wilensky and Yvette of Safety Harbor, Florida. Grandfather to Lt Ian Overcash, USN and his wife Paige who are stationed in Monterey CA, Joseph (JC) Wilensky, Aaron and Tyler Rayburn of Longwood Florida and Gavyn Ruark of Safety Harbor, Florida. Great Grandfather to five year old Alaina Rayburn and a new baby expected soon. Ellis was preceded in death by his brother and best friend Earl and his wife Sandra along with his younger sister Francine. Born in 1929 in Boston MA, to Sylvia and Louis Wilensky, Ellis served honorably in the US Air Force in Korea during the Korean War, was a many year Master Mason and retired after 31 years of dedicated service to the United States Postal Service. Ellis was also a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan. Known as the “miracle man” at the Veterans Administration, Ellis was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in the mid 1960’s and he was given two years to live. At the time of his death he was one of the longest living ALS survivor. In lieu of flowers, remembrances made be made to the ALS Foundation at alsa.org. Ellis was laid to rest at The Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell on October 20th.
